Set it and forget it

If you’ve used a crockpot, you’ve most likely heard the phrase, “Set it and forget it.” You prepare some veggies, brown the meat, set the timer, give it a couple of stirs, and a few hours later, you have dinner. No muss, no fuss.

What if you applied that same concept to your business website?

Here’s what I encounter more often than not: business owners who want a super flashy and exciting website, something that makes you say “WOW” with new content posted every day and music and animations. But their industry may not be super flashy or exciting. Or they don’t have the budget for super flashy or exciting. Or they don’t have the time for super flashy and exciting because they’re too busy running their business.

Repeat after me: There’s nothing wrong with a functional website.

Just because a website is functional doesn’t mean it has to look boring. Take a look at the websites for Northeastern Nevada Museum and Sheet Metal Workers Local 80. We created eye-catching, modern websites for these clients that are also user-friendly and functional.

There’s nothing wrong with a functional website.

If you do not have the time or resources to dedicate to a flashy and fun site, it’s okay. As a business owner, it is better to have a clean and functional site than a website that quickly looks dated or has old information posted. Your website works as a 24-hour commercial for your business. Keep it simple and make your contact information prominent. Then, set it and forget it.

Imagine Communications account manager Nadia Zerka has only used a crockpot once in her life, and it did not end well. Pizza was ordered.
