Well Played, Anheuser-Busch. Well played.

I tried not to watch too many trailers of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” before it came out. Same with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” I would rather be surprised. I’m the same way with Super Bowl commercials. Half the fun is getting the reactions of the room you’re in when the commercials come on and everyone sees them at the same time for the first time.

However, this Anheiser-Busch’s “Born the Hard Way” commercial crossed my eye-line this week, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it.

These things take time, but somehow the company and Anomaly, the ad’s creator, hit just the right note, taking into account the tone of the country’s political state.

When it can cost advertisers up to $5 million for a 30-second spot this year, this ad is like a mini-movie, telling the story of Adolphus Busch’s 1857 arrival in America and his trek to St. Louis.

An ad – by all accounts – that intended to celebrate the American Dream, is going to strike a cord on Super Bowl Sunday. What will your favorite commercial be?

Tiffannie Bond, although not much of a beer drinker, misses the Budweiser Puppy this year, but this ad made her feel much better.
