This phrase hangs above the walkway onto the football field at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. I saw it in a picture back in September and it’s stuck with me ever since.
You see, it’s about so much more than football. The successful program isn’t built on one person’s talent. It’s built on the strength of the team. It goes beyond the people you have representing you; it is all encompassing to the people, the messages, the experience, and the product and service you provide.
When you work for a company, you are component of its success – or failure. When you own a business, the quality of product and service has to be there or the customers won’t. When you pick up a new client, you have to prove to them every day that they make the right choice.
You are the program.
On a side note: Michigan State will play in the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2014 against Stanford. It is the school’s first trip to Pasadena since 1988. This season, the football team has shown THEY are the program as they defeated Ohio State (who had been undefeated for 2 straight seasons) for the chance to play in January. GO GREEN!
